Oh wouldn’t it be nice if parents had a fairy godmother to simply just give us all the perfect answers to family or parenting issues all at the snap of a finger? I for one certainly do! It wasn’t until I was studying to become a librarian, that I was wakened by the magical public library spell and realized the many surprising and quite helpful resources available for free right under my nose! I hadn’t realized there was a book for almost every topic good, bad, and ugly, in dealing with your child. Being a parent myself of two girls dealing with regular childrearing challenges just like everyone else, I get so excited telling another parent who is struggling with a complicated issue at home, that there is a book I know of that just may help them with that!
Yes, I know it’s no fairy godmother, but it can sometimes come close - like an invisible friend to hold your hand and helping you navigate through a complicated time.
Death of a pet, friend, or family member; welcoming a new sibling into the home; afraid of the dark; divorce; manners; adoption; can’t seem to make friends; understanding disabilities --- the list seems endless and I had no idea this even existed- as I’m sure do many parents out there!
Know that you don't have to feel completely alone and at a loss for answers. Your library is here and that one book (or Ebook, audiobook, etc.) could possibly be the key- the buffer- the tool --- and exactly what you need to help.
The following resources (and more to come in this series), can help aid, define, guide, and offer possible answers to your child's questions in dealing with matters in the family unit.
