Cover Art As the new Star Wars trilogy comes to a close with the December release of The Rise of Skywalker, some (like myself) will be going through a bit of Star Wars withdrawal.  I can remember as a 7 year old kid watching Return of the Jedi in the theater in 1983 and loving every minute of it, and then having to wait 16 years before getting my next Star Wars fix which didn't happen until 1999, with the release of The Phantom Menace. Lucky for you (Rebels or Imperials), we have you covered should you need a little Star Wars fix. Whether you’re an adult, young adult, or child we have plenty of Star Wars books, movies, comics and more to help pick you up!

Cover Art If you’re a Star Wars movie buff your local library system has DVDs and Blu-Rays for the original Star Wars Trilogy as well as the Star Wars prequels in addition to the latest installments The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi. One-shots like Solo: A Star Wars Story and Rogue One are also included in the collections. If you have little Jedis or little Storm Troopers, our Children’s Library has DVD’s for both the Star Wars Rebels and the Star Wars Clone Wars animated series. Not to mention a plethora of Star Wars themed books and comics such as the Jedi Academy graphic novel series and a number of Easy Readers. For the true fan there is the non-fiction children's book Star Wars: absolutely everything you need to know. The title speaks for itself.

For adult Star Wars fans, there are a number of good book series in the library collection that can take you off to a galaxy far, far away. Some notables include Thrawn by Timothy Zahn, Phasma by Delilah Dawson, and Dark Lord: the rise of Darth Vader by James Luceno. If you are a teen, the Young Adult’s section also has what you need to keep you connected to the Star Wars universe with several graphic novels and comics as well as books. Doctor Aphra is a fine choice for comic book fans. It follows the rogue archeologist Doctor Chelli Lona Aphra as she struggles to pay off her debts while trying to uncover historical artifacts and keeping her dark past a secret. There are also two books by #1 New York Time Best Selling author E.K. Johnston, Ahsoka and Queen’s Shadow.

Now, let’s talk music. The Star Wars theme song is one of the most famous and recognizable melodies in the world. All nine of the Star Wars saga films soundtracks were composed by John Williams and each of them are available at your local library.

So no matter what your preferred choice of media is, with regards to Star Wars your local library has you covered. You can peruse the collection virtually through westchesterlibraries.org or stop by your local library for a recommendation. As a Star Wars buff, you can always stop by GPL and find me in Teenburgh where we can chat it up about our favorite galaxy far, far away. Till then, see you in Teenburgh…
