Learn Spanish @ GPL
Need help improving your Spanish?
GPL offers a variety of ways for you to develop your language skills.
Spanish/English Conversation Group ~ Wednesdays at 2:00pm
(Check the GPL calendar for specific dates.)
Join others learning Spanish, and native Spanish speakers learning English, in a fun and relaxed setting. There's no pressure--we want you to make mistakes so you'll learn and improve! Small groups spend ten minutes in English and ten minutes in Spanish, then you change groups to hear different accents and meet new people. You'll be in three 20 minute groups (one hour), and then afterwards Diana leads a group lesson (half hour) to review all the new words and expressions that come up in the conversations. Bring a notebook and your enthusiasm; Diana will email you the new Vocab Lists. We'll also supply cookies, tea and coffee! We're here almost every week, but check the GPL Events Calendar and/or our flyers to be sure we're meeting. No registration is needed.

En Colombia: El Biblioburro
The Amazing Donkey Libraries of Colombia
Luis Soriano was a Spanish teacher in rural La Gloria Colombia. Concerned that his students had no access to books at home, he decided to do something about it. By adapting the packsaddles of his two donkeys, Alfa and Beto, from carrying water to carrying books, Luis created a makeshift mobile library and set off to take his books to children who otherwise wouldn’t have access to reading materials. With that the ‘Biblioburro’ was born.
