Make the Road NY~ Se Hace Camino Nueva York is a private, non-profit organization dedicated to the economic and social development of the Latino community. Their mission is carried out through culturally relevant programs in the areas of immigration legal services, citizenship applications, family law, advocacy, employment, housing, education and job training. The Westchester Hispanic Coalition became part of Make the Road New York in 2018.
Their model "integrates four core strategies for concrete change that millions of families feel every day:
Legal and Survival Services to tackle discrimination, abuse and poverty; Transformative Education to develop community members’ abilities to lead our organization, our movement, and society; Community Organizing to transform the systems and power structures impacting our communities; and Policy Innovation to rewrite unjust rules and make our democracy truly accountable to all of us." El Centro Hispano’s mission has not really changed since its beginning more than forty two years ago – to assist, support, and strengthen Hispanic families; to help them become self- sufficient; and to ease their transition into their new culture while maintaining and enriching their own.
