A frequently asked question in the children’s room is “Where are the Dog Man Books?” The Dog Man series by Dav Pilkney resides in our very popular graphic novel section. In the last few years, the children’s graphic novel collection has grown both in size and in variety. Fantasy books, realistic fiction, historical fiction, biographies and nonfiction can all be found in the graphic novel format. We often hear from parents that they would like their child to read “real books”. Well, here is the good news: there are encouraging reasons why reading graphic novels is more than okay.
