VolunTeen Spotlight: Teen Tutoring

by Liz Anastasi on 2019-09-20T11:06:00-04:00 | 0 Comments

Coming this October to Greenburgh Public Library -- Teen Tutoring: Peer-To-Peer Homework & Study Help

Many teens participating in the library’s VolunTeen program choose to complete their community service hours by sharing their passions and talents with their community. Whether it’s music concerts and gaming events, or nutrition and coding workshops (to name a few!), the VolunTeen program provides the opportunity and environment for teens to volunteer their time doing things they love.

The latest example of VolunTeen leadership and service to the community is found in the library’s new and improved teen homework and study help program (launching on October 1, 2019 for students grades 6-12).

VolunTeens identified a demand in their community for free homework and study help for peers, so two of them started brainstorming. How could they help their fellow students with the subjects they need, when they need it? From framing the program to creating marketing materials, the teen volunteers were determined to turn their concept into a reality. What they created will become Teen Tutoring at Greenburgh Public Library.

The Teen Tutoring program will pair up GPL Teen Volunteer Tutors with teens in need of help with school. You can get one-on-one help from fellow teens on all subjects, homework, and test prep. Once a tutor and a student are paired up you will meet at Greenburgh Public Library and get to work!
