Urban Fiction. The settings are gritty and the characters are tough, ready to survive by any means necessary. You may know the stories, but what about the authors who write them? What inspired them? Let's take a deeper look at the second of our six authors and offer you a peek inside their lives!

To read more about other Urban Fiction authors, check out our previous post about Teri WoodsZane and Carl Weber.

  1. Eric Jerome Dickey originally planned to become a computer engineer. He grew up in Memphis Tennessee and graduated from the University of Memphis with a degree in Computer System Technologies.
  2. He may have worked on one of the planes you’ve flown on! After moving to Los Angeles, CA  he worked in the aerospace industry as a software developer. After nine years he realized that this type of work was not for him. He pursued stand up comedy and acting but soon realized that his best talent was writing.
  3. In 2015, he won the NAACP award for Outstanding Literary Work (Fiction) for A Wanted Woman.
  4. How did Eric get started writing women’s romance novels? From a writing class assignment! The assignment was to write from the opposite sex’s point of view. This assignment became the basis for the novel, Sister Sister
  5. Eric is the author of a six series Marvel comic book featuring two Marvel characters, Storm and the Black Panther.
