Did you know that the library now checks out mobile hotspots? On August 1 will launch this new free library service that allows cardholders to check out a hotspot device and connect to the internet from almost anywhere!
If you are not familiar with a mobile hotspot, it looks like this:
A mobile hotspot is a compact device with a cell phone connection that enables users to connect to the Internet. Our mobile hotspot gets service from Sprint, so as long as the device can connect to a Sprint 3G or 4G LTE network, users can access the Internet. The device itself emits a Wi-Fi signal that users can connect their personal wireless enabled devices to, like laptops, tablets, or smart phones. Up to ten devices can connect to the mobile hotspot at any one time.
A hotspot is the perfect way to stay in touch with the internet when you are traveling, commuting, or in a place where Wi-Fi may not be available. It is as simple as turning on the hotspot, identifying and choosing it for wireless service on your phone, tablet or laptop then entering the password.
The library will loan the hotspots for two week periods. There will be no renewal. You can reserve yours now by using our museum pass reservation system on the library website.
